Lisa de Groot
PhD Student
Lisa is a PhD student at UMC Utrecht and the Department of Bioinformatics at SkylineDx. She initially studied sustainability, climate change, and ecology at the University of Amsterdam, before starting the Master’s in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology (UvA, VU). During her master’s, she focused on drug combination strategies in precision oncology at the Netherlands Cancer Institute and quality assessment of AI-generated histopathology images. After that, she worked as a research assistant at the Department of Medical Oncology at Amsterdam UMC, focusing on clinical cancer trials. Her current work explores AI methods, such as foundation models, to develop gene expression signatures that predict treatment response in cancer.
