Joske Ubels

PostDoc

Joske completed a bachelor’s in Biomedical Science in 2012 and a master in Oncology in 20215, both from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. After this she obtained a PhD at the Erasmus MC in the group of Pieter Sonneveld and in the de Ridder group at the UMC Utrecht, focusing on developing new machine learning methods to predict treatment benefit in cancer. After completing her PhD in 2020, she started a postdoc in the lab of Ruben van Boxtel at the Princess Maxima Center, applying machine learning methods to unravel the mechanisms behind specific mutational signatures. In 2024 she returned to the de Ridder lab as postdoc, working on foundation models; using new AI methods to improve predictive models in cancer.
