Cristian Ruiz Moreno

Cristian initially trained as a veterinarian in Colombia before pivoting to biomedical research during his MSc at Universidad de Antioquia, where he focused on oncology and in vitro models for pediatric cancers. He later moved to the Netherlands to pursue a Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine at Radboud University under the supervision of Prof. Henk Stunnenberg. His doctoral research applied single-cell and spatial omics to dissect the tumor microenvironment, with a particular focus on high-grade brain tumors in children and adults. Cristian is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the De Ridder lab, where he uses spatial transcriptomics and AI to investigate mechanisms of immune evasion and resistance in melanoma patients undergoing immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy.
