Adrien Melquiond

Assistant Professor

Adrien is an Assistant Professor in Bioinformatics at the Center for Molecular Medicine and the Coordinator of the Utrecht Bioinformatics Center. Trained as a biologist, he always had a genuine interest for interdisciplinary science. After studying molecular modelling in Paris, he joined the group of Prof. Alexandre Bonvin at Utrecht University for a first postdoc, to dissect the structure-dynamics relationship of biomolecular interactions. Followed a second postdoc in Prof. Wouter de Laat's group (Hubrecht Institute) where his research focused on the functional significance of the genome structure & dynamics. He returned as senior scientist to the Bonvin lab to work for the European centre of excellence BioExcel. In the meantime, he invested time in teaching, developing new bioinformatics courses and set up digital tools for our teaching community. In 2018, he became the coordinator of the Utrecht Bioinformatics Center and joined the UMC Utrecht as Assistant Professor in 2020.
